Coventry University

Coventry University is well known for being ambitious and innovative, making a significant contribution to important global and societal challenges. The University has an extensive track record in engagement with Europe and European research and development. Over the last 3 years we have been delivering on over 120 research contracts awarded by the European Commission, the vast majority of which have been multi-partner collaborations across Europe and beyond. The support from the EC for these projects has totalled over £35 million and involved every Faculty and Institute within the University.

Coventry University hosts several interdisciplinary applied research centres, including the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR). This Centre drives innovative, transdisciplinary research on the understanding and development of resilient food and water systems internationally. Through its focus on food and water, the Centre’s research develops and integrates new knowledge in social and agroecological processes, as well as the pivotal role that communities play in developing resilience. Unique to this Centre is the incorporation of citizen-generated knowledge - the participation of farmers and other citizens in transdisciplinary research, using holistic approaches which cross many disciplinary boundaries. CAWR also aims to advance resilience science through creative work on a new generation of key issues linked to the governance of food systems.
